He performed research on domestic refrigerators\, heat pumps\, and various HVAC&R components for 15 years with the goal of advancing standards to enable more efficient\, reliable\, and intelligent equipment. He then moved from independent research to managing NIST’s Building Energy and Environment Division\, whose research portfolio spans a wide range of equipment\, controls\, renewable energy and air quality issues for residential and commercial buildings.
