October Professional Education Seminar (PES) Webinar

When: Noon-2pm on Wednesday, October 27th, 2021
Topic: DC BEPS Program: What You Should Know About DC's Latest Energy Legislation
Speakers: Jeffrey Salay, Meghan McAvoy, Patti Boyd

Since 2018, the District of Columbia has committed to aggressive sustainability goals, including cutting DC’s greenhouse gas emissions in half by 2032. This webinar, led by Senior Principal Jeffrey Salay, Sustainable Programs Manager Meghan McAvoy, and Senior Manager of Technology & Innovation Patti Boyd, provides an overview of recent legislation, from the Clean Energy DC Act and the District’s Department of Energy and the Environment (DOEE) standards to renewable energy and carbon neutrality.

This webinar also describes the changes coming for DC building owners with the introduction of the BEPS program, how existing buildings will be impacted by these new requirements, and options for sourcing project funding. The District's Building Energy Performance Standards (BEPS) program has begun its first year of compliance, with long-term ramifications still being analyzed by the commercial real estate community. This webinar provides an overview of the recent legislation and addresses compliance pathways, penalties, and how to plan for future cycles of BEPS compliance.
