Hybrid Dry Adiabatic Cooler (HDAC) for Data Center Heat Rejection
Shumate’s pioneering new method of cooling hyperscale data centers. Normally these large structures possess an mPUE of 1.5, but Steve has devised a way to bring that figure down to 1.09, thereby allowing less power to be expended on mechanical systems and freeing up precious space for more IT. This method will only use a "sip" of water compared to traditional evaporative cooling, and bridges the gap between capacity of a dry cooler, and the increasing heat rejection required by today's computer chip manufacturers.
Steve Spinazzola
Steve Spinazzola earned his engineering degree from Penn State University. He has extensive experience in both mechanical design and project management on a wide range of mission-critical, office, educational, health and science, retail, and institutional projects. He specializes in heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning (HVAC) design, and is registered as a professional engineer in four (4) states. He is the original Co-inventor of hot aisle containment for which he was granted patents in the early 2000's. Most recently in 2025 Steve was granted patents for HDAC for data center heat rejection.
