Air Handling Unit Acoustics
A review of the fundamentals of acoustics followed by a discussion of the noise sources in an air handling unit and how to control AHU sound for improved occupant and community comfort.
Roger Howard, LEED AP - Johnson Controls Acoustics Engineer
Roger Howard is an Acoustics Engineer at the Johnson Controls Advanced Development and Engineering Center located in York, Pennsylvania. He is primarily responsible for sound testing and ratings of air-handling products. Roger received his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from The University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown. He has 36 years of combined experience in the design, engineering and selection of custom Air-Handling Units and in research, engineering and application of sound and vibration technologies. Roger serves on several sound and vibration standards subcommittees at AHRI, and is a provisional member of ASHRAE Technical Committee 2.6.
