Hybrid Ventilation Strategy Implemented Early in Design Process to Achieve Cost/Carbon Savings and Enhanced IAQ
This session introduces a new approach to hybrid ventilation to achieve low carbon building operations. The new approach is
based on an expanded definition of hybrid ventilation systems that includes air cleaning in addition to ventilation (natural and
mechanical). This new approach is supported by recent updates to the IAQ Procedure in ASHRAE 62.1 and builds on lessons
learned from the COVID-19 pandemic regarding layered strategies and equivalent air changes. The presentation focuses on
updates to Standards and the early adoption of strategies to achieve enhanced IAQ and Carbon Savings.
Tony Fuchs, P.E. – Mechanical Engineer, CMTA
Mr. Fuchs is a Mechanical Engineer at CMTA with over 10 years of experience in the consulting engineering field. He is responsible for managing, supervising and performing design of the engineering components of major architectural and engineering projects. He has been crucially involved in several of CMTA’s largest and most innovative sustainable design projects. His expertise is in commercial, industrial, community, life sciences and healthcare projects.
